Sahar Lowe:
Exclusive Online Group Class

Master Chef 2020 QF, born and raised in Tehran, Iran, where her mother stimulated her interest in preparing wonderful food dishes. Sahar’s passion for cooking inspired her to learn local languages and the different processes and methods of cooking.

Her favourite food is “Ghormeh Sabzi” (a traditional Persian stew) a dish taught by her mother at the young age of 16. Her mother had invited some guests over for lunch but unfortunately fell ill so Sahar was left to prepare the meal herself. Afterwards her uncle told her it was the best he had ever tasted and many years later Sahar’s old school friend, who had been there with her parents, told her whenever she recalled the meal she could still taste the wonderful flavours.

Moment of Inspiration: I have been cooking for over 35 years. I love cooking, especially for my family, and my kitchen is the heart of our home. For 28 years I was a full-time working professional (Sin. Manager administration and facility) as well as raising a daughter and would cook as soon as I reached home. On weekends when my friends came over, I would cook for 10 – 12 people, often introducing them to international dishes and my own special creations.

When I was a teenager my mother taught me the basics of Persian cooking, the different styles and ways of cooking fish, meat, chicken, rice and vegetables, and how to use the wonderful variety of herbs and spices. From the time I left Iran and moved to the Middle East until I settled in the UK, all my culinary skills were self-taught following recipes in cookery books. I hope to launch my own cookbook very soon. I am fascinated by the Mediterranean, and especially Italian, cuisine and I hope in time to open a family restaurant fusing Persian with Arabic and Mediterranean flavours.
